Why Pratchett is good, volume 4577 From this thread at Kung Fu Monkey: "Nobody is better than Pratchett at hiding a bad joke in plain sight. I still remember my absolute shock on reading a interview in Locus, where he mentions that Selachii is the family name for sharks, and Venturi is the name for the nozzle of a jet, so that the two leading families of Ankh-Morpork are the Sharks and the Jets." Current Music: Space Station Soma: Tune in, turn on, space out. Ambient and mid-tempo electronica. [SomaFM] | | 10:03p |
Orson and The Brain Brain Brain Brain Brain... Youtube, via Whitechapel, makes me smile again. There's an infamous out-take of Orson Welles recording a voice-over for a frozen food ad. There's an episode of Animaniacs where The Brain (voiced by Maurice LaMarche, impersonating Orson as ever) does a near-perfect parody of that out-take. Here is the sound of the former grafted onto the latter. Current Music: They're hinky, they're Pinky and The Brain... |
