Meme time - The soundtrack of my life

From my old pal Wag, this meme:

(I note the American slant - we don't have prom here and so on - but still fun)

If your life were a movie, what would the soundtrack be?

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

Cut for length and the meme-allergic. )

Seven things I approve of

My old mucker Gyrus tagged me with this meme - and I'm actually going do so it.

' The idea is to list seven things that you’re in favour of—with no tricksy use of inversion to slip negative wishes in. Just straight-forward, “I’m all for this” stuff. '

Tempting to just list 7 TV shows or movies, but that's too easy. So, one film or one show.

1. Consensual kinky sex that's so intense that gods themselves join in.

2. That the 21st Century world is as science-fictiony as I'd ever hoped, but in a completely surprising way.

3. Compassion, common decency, honour, joy and intelligent doubting of the accepted - for both still existing and continuing to be shared.

4. Having bright friends who can hold their end in conversation - and finding more of them as I go on.

5. Alan Moore writing a grimoire in comic book form.

6. Actually getting fitter and healthier through my own means.

7. Babylon 5. Yeah, Galactica is OK but B5 hits the mythic better.

No peer ping pressure - if you want to play, go right ahead.

Quote of the day

Though I'm not personally that fond of Alphaville or Godard's work generally, this quote from the flick just popped out at me on Coilhouse, and says something I often try to express, far more eloquently than I usually manage it.

"Sometimes reality is too complex for oral communication. But legend embodies it in a form which enables it to spread all over the world."

Not bad for a film which preceded meme theory by eleven yearts.

I'm so goth, Bats pewp me!

Your Score: The Bat

Here's your results! Your spirit animal has a Nobility ranking of 9 out of 18.

Your spirit animal is the bat. They are remakable creatures that guide themselves through the night using sonar. They are a fairly common spirit animal, but are neither exceptional nor despisable in regards to nobility. Being nocturnal, they have not really "seen the light", and there is much they are still unaware of, but they have their own special way of navigating the world, which though unconventional, works just fine.

***Wondering how this animal was chosen for you? These questions were carefully thought out to see how important you hold certain virtues such as: humanism, self-knowledge, rationalism, the love of freedom and other somewhat Hellenic ideals. Some of the questions were very subtle. Your score was then matched with an animal of corresponding nobility. However, you shouldn't think this was a right/wrong sort of test, but more of an idealistic values test. It's ok to not hold these values, you'll just get an animal spirit of lower stature if you do!***

That's *so* much better...

After a small amount of fiddling (and a couple of days prep involving getting my elderly Powerbook back up to scratch), today I installed the new telephone-line broadband to replace the Evil Illuminati Virgin cable broadband.

Result - increased connection speed by *an order of magnitude*.
(Supplier is called Be. 24 meg speed, unlimited download, £24 a month. Even the East European call centre where their tech support lives was efficient and on the ball. Pimping over.)

And just because, here's a 'teen-oriented' meme snarfed from [info]wyldraven

It's so easy to be a bad influence these days... )

Meme before bed

Answer was kid of apt, though not one of my regular Patronesses... (the Erzulies were conspicuous by their absence).

Your Score: Neit

Indeed, you are 79% erudite, 91% sensual, 75% martial, and 83% saturnine.

Neit, who was said to have emerged from the primeval water to create the world, is one of the oldest Egyptian Goddesses. Although the Egyptians believed that Neit was of both a masculine and feminine nature, as she was self-produced, she was usually depicted as a woman.

The Egyptians believed her to be an ancient and wise Goddess, to whom the other Gods came if they could not resolve their own disputes.
Besides being the ruler of the lower Heavens, she was also the patron to hunt and warfare, domestic arts, mysticism, as well as women and marriage. All this makes her some kind of a jane-of-all-trades.

As a deity, Neit is often shown carrying a bow and arrows, linking her to hunting and warfare, other times she is shown with a sceptre, symbol of rule and power, and the ankh, symbol of life.

Memes instead of sleep...

Since I'm awake, here's a dumb quiz with a predictable result when applied to me:

You scored as Babylon 5 (Babylon 5), The universe is erupting into war and your government picks the wrong side. How much worse could things get? It doesn’t matter, because no matter what you have your friends and you'll do the right thing. In the end that will be all that matters. Now if only the Psi Cops would leave you alone.
